Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how LiverCare AI (operated by Crowe Services, based in Australia) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the LiverCare AI mobile application (the "App") and the livercare.ai website (the "Site"). LiverCare AI is designed to support people managing liver health by helping them track meals, sodium, sugar, protein, and other nutrients. The App is intended as educational guidance only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice — please consult your doctor or dietitian about any health decisions.

We've tried to make this policy plain-English. If anything is unclear, please email us at support@livercare.ai.

Summary at a glance

Information we collect

Information you provide

When you set up the App you may enter:

All of this is stored on your device. We do not transmit this information to a server we operate.

Information collected automatically by third-party services

When you use specific App features, the relevant data is sent to the third party providing that feature. These are described in the next section.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect IP addresses, device identifiers, advertising IDs, location data, contacts, or browsing history through the App. We do not run any analytics SDK (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase Analytics, etc.) inside the App.

How your information is used

The information you enter into the App is used solely to:

Where your data is stored

All data you enter into the App — your profile, meals, symptom logs, weight entries, saved meal favourites, and notification preferences — is stored locally on your device using IndexedDB and the device's local storage. We do not maintain a cloud copy of this data on our servers. If you uninstall the App, this data is deleted with the App.

Third-party services

Google Gemini (meal photo recognition and nutrition label OCR)

When you take a photo of a meal or a nutrition label inside the App, the image is sent to Google's Gemini AI service for identification of food items and nutrition values. The image is processed by Google to return a recognition result. Your name, profile, or any other personal information is not sent with the image. Google's handling of the image is governed by Google's privacy practices — Google Privacy Policy and the Gemini API Terms of Service.

Open Food Facts (barcode lookups)

When you scan a product barcode, the App queries the Open Food Facts public database to look up the product's nutrition information. Only the barcode number (not your identity) is sent. Open Food Facts is operated by a not-for-profit organisation and the database is open to the public.

USDA FoodData Central

When the App needs nutrition information for a food that is not in its local database, it may query the U.S. Department of Agriculture's FoodData Central public database. Only the food name (not your identity) is sent.

RevenueCat (subscription management)

Subscription purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. RevenueCat is a service we use to manage and verify subscription status across devices belonging to the same Apple ID. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous user identifier and the subscription product purchased. It does not receive your name, profile, or meal data. RevenueCat's practices are governed by their Privacy Policy.

Apple App Store

Subscriptions and any other in-app purchases are processed by Apple under their Privacy Policy. We do not see your payment details. We only see whether you have an active subscription.

Apple Health (optional)

If you grant the App permission, LiverCare AI can write nutrition data from your saved meals into Apple Health on your iPhone. The integration is write-only — we do not read any data back from Apple Health. Apple Health data stays on your device and is governed by Apple's own privacy controls. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → LiverCare AI.

Camera and Photo Library

The App requests camera access to scan barcodes and to take meal photos. It may request Photo Library access if you choose an existing photo. These permissions are managed by iOS; you can change them at any time in Settings.

Cookies and local storage

The App does not use cookies. The App uses your device's local storage (IndexedDB and localStorage) to remember your settings, meals, and progress between sessions. The Site (livercare.ai) does not currently set tracking cookies.

Sharing of information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties except as described in the "Third-party services" section above. We do not share your information with advertisers. We do not run targeted advertising in the App.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law (for example in response to a valid court order or government request) or to protect the safety of our users.

Children's privacy

LiverCare AI is intended for adults managing their own liver health. The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the App and we are holding their information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address it.

Your rights and choices

You can, at any time:

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and similar laws in other jurisdictions (including the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Because we don't run a backend that stores your data, we generally don't hold copies — however if you'd like us to confirm what (if anything) we have, please contact us at support@livercare.ai.

Data retention

Data you enter into the App is retained on your device for as long as the App is installed, or until you clear it manually using the controls described above. RevenueCat retains subscription records for as long as required to administer your subscription and as required by Apple's developer agreements.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. Because the App stores your data on your own device, the security of that data is also bound to your device's own security (passcode, biometrics, encryption settings). Network requests to third-party services are made over HTTPS.

No method of transmission over the internet or storage is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

LiverCare AI is operated from Australia. The third-party services described above may process information in the United States or other countries. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, where data protection laws may differ.

Medical disclaimer

LiverCare AI provides general nutritional and educational information to support people managing liver health. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and is not a substitute for advice from your doctor, dietitian, or other qualified health professional. Always consult your healthcare provider about any decisions affecting your health, diet, or treatment of any medical condition.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant we will provide a more prominent notice (for example, an in-app message). We encourage you to review this page periodically.
